Life is like playing the violin ...

Life is like playing a violin ... solo ... in public ... and ... learning the instrument as one goes on.
Samuel Butler

The violin, as we all know, is an extremely difficult instrument to play well, and yet many of us treat life as this casual, easy thing "to do".

Breakthroughs Over Time

Key Realizations

  1. Spring 2004 - What in the world is it? Understanding what Zoetics and Zoescope are (i.e. a Thinking Tool, a Visual Language, essentially a Language)

  2. Spring 2005 - Even though I discovered the terms and shapes in the Event Pattern, this is not the best way to pass it on to others. Too much detail and information.

  3. Summer 2005 - Even though I discovered the terms via the shapes, it is not necessarily best to introduce the concepts with the shapes. The concepts, spectrums, and progressions can stand alone.

  4. Summer 2005 - It really is several things (an Ontology, a Modeling Language, Reusable Knowledge Components). Trying to think of it as one thing actually confuses the issue.

  5. Summer 2005 (7/5) - It is not the end all be all. It is a handy tool for individuals to add to their already well stocked arsenal of personal tools, knowledge, and wisdom. Like the Swiss Army Knife to the camper or everyday person, it is a great tool to have but hardly everything you need.

  6. Summer 2005 (7/13) - Zoetics is Descriptive where other content is Prescriptive. Zoetics attempts to describe and organize all of the possible concepts in a sensible order. My goal for this 'content' is not tell you which ones are more important, or the first ones to learn or master. Other author's attempt to prescribe wisdom for life. (ala. John Wooden's - The Pyramid of Success)

Realizing these things is critical to making Zoetics approachable and valuable for those who might want to use it.

I am sure there are more key ones to come.
